Our Story

Who We Are

Save Calvert is a grassroots community effort led by residents of Calvert County, Maryland. We believe in responsible, transparent development that puts people and the environment first.

We are Calvert County residents — families, farmers, business owners, and retirees — who love this community and want to protect it for future generations.

We are not against progress or economic development. We are for responsible development that respects our water resources, our rural character, and our quality of life. We believe decisions about our community should be made transparently, with meaningful public input.

What We're Asking For

1

Full Transparency

No more nondisclosure agreements. All discussions about data center development should happen in public, with meaningful opportunities for community input.

2

Environmental Impact Study

A comprehensive, independent study of how data centers would affect our water supply, air quality, noise levels, and energy infrastructure before any approvals move forward.

3

Strong Protections

Enforceable regulations including closed-loop cooling, no groundwater drilling, developer-funded infrastructure, and strict emissions standards.

4

Support the Moratorium

Back the proposed 24-month moratorium so our community has time to properly evaluate the impacts before any data center projects are approved.

A Note to Our Neighbors

We want to be clear: we're not against technology, progress, or economic development. We understand that data centers are an important part of modern infrastructure. But where they're built, how they're built, and the impact they have on surrounding communities matters enormously.

Calvert County has something special — a close-knit community surrounded by natural beauty, farmland, and the Chesapeake Bay. We owe it to ourselves and to future generations to get this right. That means taking the time to study the impacts, hearing from every resident, and ensuring that any development truly benefits our community as a whole.
